GCG’s Q2 2022 E-Commerce Industry Update provides an overview of the latest trends in the sector, including recent performance, valuation multiples, and the state of the middle-market M&A environment.
Key findings include the following:
- In Q2 2022, there were 65 announced E-Commerce transactions, down from 117 in Q1 and down from 126 in the prior year’s Q2. Despite the lower volume of deals, average deal value increased to $84 million, up from $55 million in Q1.
- The global E-Commerce market was valued at $9,090 billion in 2019 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 14.7% from 2020 to 2027.
- Direct to Consumer E-Commerce sales of established brands are now growing faster than those of DNVBs (Digitally Native Vertical Brands). In 2021, they outpaced DNVB growth (27.2% versus 19.8%), and the trend is expected to continue in 2022.
