GCG is excited to announce that Co-founder and Managing Director, Joe Schmitt, has been named managing partner of the Nashville office! This strategic appointment represents a significant step forward in GCG’s commitment to strengthening our leadership presence in Nashville and the broader mid-South market. As a co-founder of GCG, Joe brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of our business, and his leadership will play a pivotal role in further rounding out our team in Nashville, ensuring that we continue to deliver exceptional value to our clients and drive our growth strategy in the region.

 

As we expand our footprint in Nashville, Joe’s appointment underscores our dedication to building a strong, cohesive team that is well-positioned to lead in this dynamic market. Joe joins an already exceptional team in Nashville consisting of Jeff Goodman, Cotton Clark, Mindy Gayer, Evan Fisher, Rhodes Smith, and Isabel Farnsworth. The Nashville team has a wide range of experience across multiple industry lines, as showcased below. Joe Schmitt – Managing Director

Joe has 25 years of corporate finance and mergers & acquisitions (M&A) experience. Joe leads the Healthcare practice for GCG, including extensive experience with providers, including hospital systems, physician practice management, and ancillary services. Joe has advised both buyers and sellers of privately held companies and divisions of public companies on various types of engagements, including acquisition reviews, sale mandates, and strategic options analyses.

Prior to joining GCG, Joe served as an investment banker with Deloitte Corporate Finance LLC, where he focused on M&A transactions, capital advisory, and business strategy. Joe has executed more than 50 investment banking engagements and performed advanced financial modeling, including entity valuations, transaction execution, and structuring. Joe has experience across various industries and has developed expertise in the healthcare, business services, and general industrial sectors.

 

 

Jeff Goodman – Managing Director

Jeff is responsible for developing and leading the execution of M&A and financing transactions for the firm, with a primary focus on the technology sector, specifically in IT Infrastructure. Jeff leverages 19 years of experience advising technology companies across numerous sub-verticals, including IT infrastructure, software services, FinTech, and advanced materials. His transaction experience includes balance sheet restructurings, asset divestitures, sell-side mandates, buy-side representation, and equity and debt capital raises.

Prior to joining Greenwich Capital Group, Jeff ran the technology practice for Oaklins Capital Alliance, a Dallas-based M&A advisory firm. Prior to Oaklins, Jeff ran US activities for Meghraj Capital, a UK-based investment bank, and was a Managing Director at The Seaport Group, Four Points Capital, and a Founder/Co-investment manager for Cypress Portfolio Group.

 

 

Cotton Clark – Vice President

Cotton has 13 years of experience across investment banking, capital markets, and buy-side investing and has a focus on the consumer, industrials, energy, and technology sectors.

Prior to joining Greenwich Capital Group, Cotton was a Director at TD Securities, where he structured and executed M&A-related financings totaling in excess of $12 billion across the energy value chain, including traditional oil and gas, infrastructure, refining, oilfield services, utilities, solar, renewable natural gas, and carbon capture. Prior to TD Securities, he worked at an investment firm where he completed transactions in the consumer, industrials, energy, and technology sectors.

 

 

Mindy Gayer – VP, Business Development

Mindy is responsible for overseeing strategic partnerships and driving various company growth initiatives. Mindy is focused on building GCG’s presence in the Southeast region and driving business sectors’ exposure nationally.

Prior to her current position, she served as Southeast Region Business Development Manager at The Entrust Group, where she focused heavily on B2B partnerships and helping private companies raise capital in the alternative asset space.

 

 

Evan Fisher – Associate

Evan is responsible for supporting the execution of M&A transactions, capital raises and financial advisory services. Evan supports aerospace and defense engagements and has gained experience in other industrial, residential, and commercial markets. Prior to GCG, Evan gained experience in equity research at Morningstar, where his primary responsibilities included bespoke analysis for large clients. He also has experience in accounting and operations from Thomson Reuters and the LPGA, respectively.

 

Isabel Farnsworth – Analyst

Isabel is responsible for supporting the execution of M&A transactions, capital raises, and financial advisory services. Isabel interned in the private equity realm at Kian Capital and, most recently, was a summer analyst at Greenwich Capital Group before accepting a full-time role. Isabel graduated from Rhodes College with a degree in Business, Finance concentration, and minors in French and English.

 

 

Rhodes Smith – Analyst

Rhodes is responsible for supporting the execution of M&A transactions, capital raises, and financial advisory services. Prior to joining GCG, Rhodes was an Investment Banking Analyst at Olsen Palmer LLC and an Associate with Edward Jones Investments in their Client Strategies Group division. Rhodes graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Finance and a minor in Spanish.
